The ice look
HardTubes enjoy great popularity, and Alphacool is constantly offering new products in this area. Anyone who wants to see clear, clean lines in their computer can hardly go without them. The most popular ones are clear and transparent, and HardTubes made of brass and carbon are also catching on. Under its "Eis" product line Alphacool is now offering the "Eisrohr", the ice tube. Its surface gives off the appearance of ice and feels like it too: somewhat rough, but still smooth.
What it does to light
The tube effectively changes the look of your system, and you can especially see its true effects after refilling: the water has the appearance of frosted ice. When a system with clear HardTubes is lit by LEDs, you see the reflection of each individual LED very clearly. Not so with this one. Instead the light is diffused, and Alphacool says you get a softer, better illumination.
Bending
Notice from Alphacool: like all acrylic HardTubes, the tube can be bent with the proper bending tools, which are in our watercooling tools section. However, this will noticeably change the appearance of the tubes at the bends and no longer creates the same optical effect. That can be used to create different effects. If you wish to keep the satin look, appropriate connectors such as angled 13mm hard tube fittings should be used in place of bending.
What a run needs
A tube run takes two 13mm OD hard tube fittings, one at each end.
Notes
- Alphacool's note on application: use the tube only with clear, transparent water cooling fluids.
- Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can also void the manufacturer's warranty.
