Why a flow indicator
It is a small component of a watercooling system, but one that could possibly save you a lot of frustration, work and money. Should a pump suddenly stop work during operation, components can overheat, and that could end in disaster. With the indicator in an easily visible mounting spot, you can react quickly to a pump stoppage or to too much contamination in the system. The flow indicator named "Eisflügel" does not only give an indication of the waterflow: Alphacool also calls it a real eye-catcher with added value. The impeller rotates silently and always shows which direction the flow takes.
Housing and threads
The housing is a combination of acetal and plexiglass (acrylic glass), which Alphacool calls a winning combination that fits seamlessly into any system. Two screw threads are necessary for the water flow, so the indicator takes two G1/4 fittings. Besides those it has another screw thread on the upper side for many purposes: illumination, fill port, drain port, or as an angled piece. Functionality is still guaranteed, Alphacool says, even if the upper thread is used as an outlet. The screw plug in the box closes it when you leave it unused.
Impeller
The fan inside, an impeller with six blades, is also made of plexiglass. Its outer sides are marked in two different colors, blue and yellow, and the side with the greater contrast can be chosen depending on the color of the fluid.
Notes
- Alphacool's note on application: use the indicator only with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products, which can also void the manufacturer's warranty.
