Details
The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 3070 Founders Edition with Backplate is a GPU water block for the NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3070 Founders Edition graphics card. Alphacool also lists the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition for it. It cools the card with a chrome-plated copper block under an acrylic (Plexi) top, and the black aluminum backplate is in the box.

Compatibility
Alphacool lists these cards for this block:
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition, 8GB GDDR6 (900-1G142-2520-000)
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition, 8GB GDDR6 (900-1G142-2510-000)
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition, 8GB GDDR6X (900-1G143-2515-000)
The block was designed for one PCB layout, and graphics card manufacturers occasionally revise a card so that a cooler no longer fits later models. Before ordering, compare your card and its PCB number with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator, or look it up in its Compatibility List for Nvidia cards.
The Aurora GPX-N series
Alphacool presents the Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 3070 Eisblock as a cooler that combines style with performance and extensive digital RGB lighting. With experience of over 17 years, it says, it has the ability to create GPU blocks that represent high quality and fantastic performance. In its view this perfectly describes the block. Alphacool calls it a complete redevelopment of its previous graphics card water coolers. No technical compromises were made, it says, but the entire technical know-how flowed into the development and implementation.
More performance
Alphacool states its aim during the development of the block in a few words: "we wanted to further increase the performance". The first step was to move the cooler closer to the individual components by reducing the thermal pads to a thickness of 1 mm. Next, Alphacool reduced the thickness of the copper block, so instead of 7 mm it is now only 5.5 mm thick. The water flow inside the cooler has been optimized as well. Alphacool says all important components, such as the voltage transformers and the memory, are now significantly better and more effectively cooled by the water. All this, it adds, ensures a significant increase in cooling performance.
New design
The cooler has been designed so that lighting is more important than on the previous models. The addressable digital RGB LEDs are embedded directly into the cooling block and run along its entire length. Alphacool describes the effect as an illumination of the whole block, where no corner or edge remains unlit by the aRGB LEDs. The new design is more angular, with all edges beveled. Due to the reflections on these bevels, this promotes better light diffusion in the water cooler. In addition, they create various contours, which Alphacool says give the cooler its very own unique identity.
Copper or aluminum?
Of course, Alphacool only uses copper for its water coolers, and with this block the copper is chrome-plated. Compared to its predecessor models, Alphacool says it has improved the plating even further. This has considerably increased the acid resistance, which means the plating should resist flaking. Why does Alphacool rely on copper instead of aluminum? Simply, it says, because copper has almost twice the thermal conductivity and is therefore clearly the better material for water cooling.
Is there anything else new?
The block also relies on the new patented stop fittings, which sit flush with the surface of the terminal. The Alphacool logo, which now sits in the corner on the top, is also fully illuminated. On the front of the terminal you can see the corresponding names of the compatible graphics card types, and of course the digital LEDs light these fully too. IN and OUT are now marked by small triangles. Alphacool says they are easily recognizable and fit perfectly into the entire aesthetics of the cooler.
What the loop needs
The block has four G1/4 threads. Two take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box. The other two are closed with the two screw plugs (the stop fittings) that are, using the enclosed plug tool. To control the lighting, the included digital-RGB adapter joins the 3-Pin JST plug of the block to a digital RGB controller such as the Aurora Eiscontrol, which is not included. More digital RGB LEDs can be chained to the remaining 3-pin connector of the adapter. Thermal pads in 1 mm, 2 mm and 3 mm, thermal grease and the screws and washers for the card and the backplate also come with the block.

Notes
- Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Remove the original cooler on an antistatic mat, taking extreme care if it is held with thermal glue. Clean the card of thermal paste and pad residues with a solvent such as isopropanol alcohol before fitting the block.
