What is that?

Not every loop is about getting the maximum performance out of your own hardware. In the world of water cooling, Alphacool writes, noise levels are sometimes far more important, and it is not always just speed that counts. With watercooling you can make a PC almost inaudible, and this pump is built for that job. Even the previous model was considered a quiet little wonder. Now Alphacool says it has improved this product considerably thanks to the experience gained. Small to medium-sized water loops can be operated almost silently with it. Alphacool already uses the pump successfully in its GPU-AiO Eiswolf 2, which it reports was classified as inaudible in various independent tests.

How is the quiet running of this pump achieved?

There are several points to mention. The true 3-phase sinusoidal control (the Sinus PCB) contributes to the extremely quiet running. The impeller is suspended with two magnets on a ceramic axle, which the data sheet calls a floating magnetic bearing. That axle is manufactured with high precision, and the impeller is cleanly balanced. All these details contribute, Alphacool says, to a pump that is virtually silent.

What else is special about this pump?

Alphacool describes the control of the pump, the mechanics and thus the pump itself as highly efficient. Compared to other models, the power consumption is significantly lower with the same or even higher power output. The data sheet puts it as increased efficiency compared to the predecessor model, and fast control. The pump has a wide control range and starts reliably from a 6V power supply.

Notes

  • Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
