Details
The Alphacool Core RX 9070 XT Red Devil with Backplate is a GPU water block for PowerColor Red Devil graphics cards. Alphacool lists two: the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 and the AMD Radeon RX 9070 16GB GDDR6. It cools the card with a chrome-plated copper block under an acrylic top, and the aluminum backplate is in the box.

Compatibility
Alphacool lists these cards for this block:
- PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 9070 16GB GDDR6 (RX9070 16G-E/OC)
- PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 (RX9070XT 16G-E/OC)
The cooler was built for one special PCB layout, and a card maker may revise its board slightly so that the block does not fit later models. Before you order, compare your card and its PCB number with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator, or find the card in its Compatibility List for AMD cards.
Copper block and terminal
The center of the cooler is a copper block, milled from a single piece. It is complemented by a precisely machined brass connection terminal that carries a nylon cover. Alphacool says the chrome plating makes the copper cooler more durable than conventional nickel plating does, and that it ensures a smoother and brighter surface. For the threads the series continues to rely on high-quality brass connectors, which Alphacool describes as guaranteeing optimal quality and safety.
Design and lighting
The block belongs to the Core product series, which Alphacool introduces as its new graphics card water coolers for the latest AMD Radeon RX generation. The visual design of the GPU water cooler has been changed only slightly. A special highlight is the newly added Core emblem above the jet plate, which underlines the affiliation with the series and visually enhances the design. The specially adapted backplate covers the entire back of the copper cooler and gives the complete block a clear and uniform appearance. In combination with the aRGB lighting, the acrylic enables even and impressive illumination of the entire cooler.
Flow and testing
Technically, Alphacool says, the cooler has been completely redesigned. The gaps between the cooler and the PCB components were redefined and tested in order to optimize cooling performance. The water flow was simulated using what Alphacool calls state-of-the-art software and then verified in practical tests. These extensive tests enabled improvements to the cooler base and to the nozzle, the part Alphacool's own page names the jetplate. Alphacool says the changes ensure the best possible cooling performance for the new generation of cards. Its claim for the series is that the coolers combine the highest quality with exceptional performance and, thanks to an optimized technical design, deliver outstanding cooling.
What the loop needs
The block has four G1/4 connections. Two take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box, and the other two take the two plugs that are, screwed in with the plug tool. The lighting has a 3-Pin JST power connection and runs at a voltage of 5V, and an ARGB adapter is included. Thermal pads, thermal grease, a putty tool, a screwdriver and the screws also come with the block.

Notes
- Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products, whether a radiator, a pump, coolers or hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Take the original cooler off on an antistatic mat and clean thermal paste and pad residues from the card before the block goes on. The card's original IO shield and its screws are used again with the block. During assembly, make sure taller parts have enough space around them.
