Quick Overview

Alphacool introduces its new series of graphics card water coolers for the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX generation. Part of the Core product series, these coolers combine the highest quality with exceptional performance. Thanks to an optimized technical design, these GPU coolers deliver outstanding cooling performance.

Details

The Alphacool Core Geforce RTX 5080/5070Ti Phoenix with Backplate is a GPU water block for two Gainward Phoenix graphics cards with Nvidia chips: the GeForce RTX 5080 Phoenix and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Phoenix. A chrome-plated copper block under an acrylic top does the cooling, and the aluminum backplate is in the box.

Compatibility

Alphacool lists these cards for this block:

  • Gainward GeForce RTX™ 5070 Ti Phoenix
  • Gainward GeForce RTX™ 5080 Phoenix

The block was made for one PCB layout, and a revised board from the card maker can mean the cooler no longer fits later models. Before ordering, compare your card with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator, or check it against the Compatibility List for Nvidia cards.

Copper block and terminal

The copper cooler in the center of the block is milled from a single piece. It is complemented by a precisely manufactured brass connection terminal, which has a nylon cover. Alphacool says the chrome plating makes the copper cooler more resistant and ensures a smoother and brighter surface than conventional nickel plating. The series continues to rely on high-quality brass connections, which Alphacool says guarantee optimal quality and safety.

Design and lighting

Alphacool presents this block with the new graphics card water coolers for the latest Nvidia Geforce RTX generation, all of them part of the Core product series. Alphacool has only changed the visual design slightly. A special highlight is the newly added Core emblem above the jet plate, which underlines the fact that the block belongs to the series and visually enhances the design. The specially adapted backplate covers the entire back of the copper cooler and ensures a clear, uniform look. In combination with the aRGB lighting, the acrylic enables uniform and impressive lighting of the entire cooler.

Flow and testing

Technically, Alphacool says, the GPU water cooler has been completely redesigned. To optimize the cooling performance, the distances between the cooler and the components of the PCB were redefined and then tested. The water flow was simulated first, using the latest software, and tested afterwards in practical tests. Those extensive tests made it possible to improve the cooler base and the nozzle, which Alphacool calls the jetplate, in order to ensure the best possible cooling performance. Alphacool's claim for the series is that these GPU coolers combine the highest quality with exceptional performance. Thanks to an optimized technical design, it says, they offer outstanding cooling performance.

What the loop needs

The block has four G1/4 threads. Two take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box, and the other two take the two plugs that are. The lighting connects through a 3-Pin JST plug, and an ARGB adapter is included. The manual reuses the card's original IO shield. Thermal pads, thermal grease, a putty tool, a plug tool and a screwdriver also come with the block.

Notes

  • Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Remove the original cooler on an antistatic mat and clean the card of thermal paste and pad residues before fitting the block.
