The Alphacool Core Geforce RTX 5080/5070Ti Gaming Trio with Backplate is a GPU water block for six MSI GAMING TRIO graphics cards with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 or RTX 5070 Ti chip. The MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G GAMING TRIO OC and the RTX 5070 Ti 16G GAMING TRIO PLUS are two of them. It cools the card with a chrome-plated copper block under an acrylic top, and the aluminum backplate is in the box.

The block was designed for one PCB layout, and card makers sometimes revise a board so that a cooler no longer fits later models. Before ordering, compare your card and its PCB number with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator, or look it up in its Compatibility List for Nvidia cards.
Copper block and terminal
In the center of the cooler sits the copper cooler itself, milled from a single piece. It is complemented by a precisely manufactured brass connection terminal with a nylon cover. Alphacool says the chrome plating makes the copper cooler more resistant and ensures a smoother and brighter surface than conventional nickel plating. The series continues to rely on high-quality brass connections, which Alphacool says guarantee optimal quality and safety.
Design and lighting
Alphacool presents this block as one of the new graphics card water coolers for the latest Nvidia Geforce RTX generation, all of them part of the Core product series. The visual design has only been changed slightly. Its special highlight is the newly added Core emblem above the jet plate, which underlines the fact that the block belongs to the series and visually enhances the design. The specially adapted backplate, 3 mm thick without its spacers, covers the entire back of the copper cooler and ensures a clear, uniform look. In combination with the aRGB lighting, the acrylic enables uniform and impressive lighting of the entire cooler.
Flow and testing
Technically, Alphacool says, the GPU water cooler has been completely redesigned. The distances between the cooler and the components of the PCB were redefined and tested to optimize the cooling performance. The water flow was simulated first, using the latest software, and then tested in practical tests. Those extensive tests made it possible to improve the cooler base and the nozzle, which Alphacool calls the jetplate, in order to ensure the best possible cooling performance. Alphacool's claim for the series is that these GPU coolers combine the highest quality with exceptional performance. It also says that, thanks to an optimized technical design, they offer outstanding cooling performance.
What the loop needs
The block has four G1/4 threads. Two take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box, and the other two take the two plugs that are. The maximum working temperature is 60 °C, and the block is pressure tested at 0.8 bar. The LEDs run on a voltage of 5V through a 3-Pin JST plug, and an ARGB adapter is included. Thermal pads, thermal grease, a putty tool, a plug tool and a screwdriver complete the box.

Notes
- Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products, from the radiator and pump to coolers and hoses. That can also void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Remove the original cooler on an antistatic mat and clean the card of thermal paste and pad residues before fitting the block.
