The Alphacool Core 200 Aurora Reservoir D5/VPP Acetal/Acrylic is a 400 ml tube reservoir with an integrated pump top for a D5 or VPP pump. No pump is in the box: it is compatible with all original D5 pumps and all Alphacool VPP pumps. The same reservoir with the pump already fitted is the Core 200 Aurora with VPP pump.

Materials
The reservoir tube is made of acrylic, while acetal is used for the lid and the D5/VPP pump top. Alphacool says the Core reservoir combines performance with design and that the combination of these two materials gives it a discreet appearance. The wow effect, in Alphacool's words, is provided by the lighting in the top of the pump and the light tower water effect inside the acrylic tube.
What's new?
The acrylic tube now has an external thread, which the previous Eisbecher models did not have when compared to the Core reservoir. Alphacool says this ensures more stability and security when connecting the cover and pump top to the tube. The integrated digital aRGB lighting is also new: the LEDs are included and will no longer have to be purchased separately in the future.
Extensive mounting options
Mounting option 1: the scope of delivery includes feet (the stand brackets) which, among other things, enable the expansion tank to be mounted on the bottom of the housing. The manual fixes the stand holders with four M4x8 screws and fastens them to the case with four more M4x8 screws and the M4 nuts.
Mounting option 2: 120mm/140mm mounting frames are in the box as well. With them the reservoir can be attached to free fan spaces, radiators or to the fans on radiators. The 120mm or 120 - 140mm bracket is screwed on with four M4x6 screws, and a radiator takes the four M3x5 screws. The manual notes that the bracket may need to be rotated for some radiator sizes.
Digitally addressable RGB lighting
12 digitally addressable RGB LEDs illuminate the acrylic tube. They sit in a ring shape, attached at the lower end of the tube where the transition to the top of the pump is. Alphacool says they ensure brilliant illumination of the entire reservoir and that, in combination with the Lighttower water effect, a very special ambience is achieved. The digital aRGB LED lighting is connected via a JST 3-pin connector and can be controlled with a digital RGB controller (e.g. Alphacool Aurora Eiscontrol, Art.15360) or a digital RGB capable mainboard. The included adapter plugs into the 3-pin female connector, and more digital RGB LEDs can be added on the remaining male connector.
Lighttower water effect
The special water effect in the reservoir is created by the riser tubes. If you stop filling below the upper edge of the riser tube (don't go over it), you get a kind of fountain effect. The water is pushed out the sides of the riser tube and sprayed against the glass tube, stronger or weaker depending on the flow of the circuit. Using the riser tubes included in the scope of delivery, the effect can be placed at the lower or the upper inlet. To change one, unscrew the container at the bottom or top: the riser tube is simply plugged in.
What the loop needs
A pump, bought separately: the box holds the pump retaining ring, a pump O-ring and all screws, and the manual mounts a VPP pump with the eight M4x12 screws. The three connections are G1/4, marked IN and OUT in the manual, so the loop takes two compression fittings. The inlet can be used to fill the reservoir, and the screw plug goes in with the tool provided.

Notes
- Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
