The Alphacool Apex Stealth Metal Fan 3000rpm Matte Black - 120x120x25mm is a 120 mm metal fan in matte black, article number 13823, and the 3000 rpm Power variant of the Apex Stealth. It runs at 400 to 3000 rpm on a 4-pin PWM connector. The slower fan in the same color is the Apex Stealth Metal Fan 2000rpm Matte Black.

Whisper Quiet

The fan blades, the motor and its suspension are completely decoupled from the metal frame. For this purpose a special damping system was placed between the frame and the fan, where it absorbs all vibrations. Alphacool describes this type of decoupling technology as patent-pending and as a completely new system, one brought to the market by Alphacool for the first time with the Apex fan. In addition, the impeller is equipped with a closed frame of its own. It prevents the impeller tips from fluttering at high speed, which also has a positive effect on the fan's characteristics. Alphacool sums the fan up as high performance and whisper quiet.

Powerful All-rounder

Alphacool calls the fan a true all-rounder and says it sets new standards in terms of airflow and static pressure. Therefore, according to Alphacool, it is not only perfect for mounting on radiators but also provides excellent airflow as a case fan. It adds that the Apex Stealth is one of the most powerful fans and remains the quietest at any speed. This Power version can be controlled between 400 and 3000 rpm via the PWM signal, and the startup speed is ~500 rpm. The Stealth also offers Zero RPM control, which can be used to bring the fan to a complete stop.

Apex Design

Alphacool says its Apex product line represents the highest level of perfection, with first-class materials and innovative technologies that guarantee a unique premium product. High-quality, elegant as well as timeless design and technical innovation: these are the features it names for this fan. In its words the robust metal frame and a special rotor are where the fan certainly impresses. The curved frame, consisting of high-quality metal, gives the fan its distinctive design, and Alphacool says it fits perfectly into any PC build. That frame is die-cast zinc (zinc injection molding) and the impeller is plastic.

Additional Features

As usual with Alphacool, multiple fans can be connected in series via daisy chain, effortlessly in its words, and the daisy chain cable is 110±10 mm long. The cables tuck into the corners of the fan, hidden so that they are no longer visible. The fan's own PWM cable is 40±8 mm, so a 50 cm PWM cable is also included as an extension. A 6-pole motor runs in combination with the HDB bearing (Hydro Dynamic Bearing). Alphacool says this ensures extremely quiet operation and high durability, and gives the MTBF (lifespan) as 100,000 hours. The fan sends a tachometer signal and has auto-restart.

What the fan needs

The fan plugs into one 4-pin PWM fan header at 12V DC, on the motherboard or on a controller from our fan controllers section. Its power consumption is 6.6 W (rated current 0.50 A, 0.55 A maximum) and the start-up voltage is 6V DC. Mounting screws are in the box: for a radiator the manual says to use the matching 6-32 UNC screws, M4 screws or Stealth mounting nuts.
