Details
The Alphacool Apex Distroplate Dark Base Pro 901 VPP/D5 - White is a white distro plate with a 433ml reservoir that replaces the front cover of the Dark Base Pro 901 case. It takes a VPP/D5 pump. A pump is not included, while the same plate with the Apex pump has one in the box. Alphacool's note: it is only compatible with this case. It also comes in black.

Made for the Dark Base Pro 901
In place of the front cover, it mounts securely and easily with the included M4x16 screws and mounting brackets. The manual has you remove the case front and front cover, insert the brackets and screw the plate on. It is available in two versions, differing only in color. In both black and white it matches the case colors of the Dark Base Pro 901 and, Alphacool says, blends seamlessly into the design.
Inverted layout
The Dark Base Pro 901 offers many customization options, including an inverted layout, and Alphacool says the plate adapts perfectly to these options. To ensure flexibility it features additional, specially adapted connectors that can be easily used even when the internals of the case are inverted. For an inverted layout the plate must be rotated 180 degrees. The pump sits in the middle of the plate to support the inversion. That is why the manual sets a minimum fill level: the coolant must always stand above the pump, so that it does not suck in any air.
Connectors and seal
Alphacool says its Apex product line stands for the highest level of perfection. With first-class materials and innovative technologies, it says, the plate guarantees a unique premium product. The chrome-plated brass G1/4 connectors are not screwed directly into the acrylic, to prevent leaks due to cracking. Instead they are two-part, fitted with an O-ring, and the parts secure each other during installation in the acrylic.
Acrylic and lighting
The plate is made of what Alphacool calls high-quality acrylic and allows a clear view of the water cooling circuit. Alphacool says the interplay of the aRGB lighting creates an impressive play of colors that perfectly showcases the case. The LEDs run at a voltage of 5V.
What the loop needs
The plate needs a VPP/D5 pump, such as the Alphacool VPP Apex Pump. Every one of the connections in use takes a G1/4 fitting from our fittings section. Any number of unused ports is closed with the plugs in the box. The manual marks the ports: OUT leads from the plate to the component, IN comes back from the component.
Filling and venting
Fill the plate with a suitable coolant. To remove trapped air, the manual says to sway the plate back and forth a little, then open a suitable port so the bubbles can escape. Top up the coolant if necessary, switch the pump on and off again, and repeat until all the air is out.
