The Alphacool 16/11mm Borosilicate Glass HardTube - 60cm is a hard tube for water cooling made of borosilicate glass, with its outer diameter at 16 mm and a length of 60 cm. One tube comes per pack, and it is compatible with the Alphacool HardTube connectors. Attention: this article is not compatible with Monsoon fittings.

Why glass
The previous method, and the one that has been most commonly used for water cooling systems, is normal PVC hoses. Alphacool now introduces the glass tube as a new approach. A hard tube additionally brings more tidiness into the system, which enables a further structured impression. Alphacool's own page says the tubes of this glass give every system a whole new quality.
In Alphacool's telling, borosilicate glass ticks every box on the checking list for watercooling systems. Stability and a brilliant appearance are not the only qualities that should lead to choosing it. Even most chemicals and temperature fluctuations can not harm the material. The whole chemical industry is depending on this glass, and Alphacool writes "we can certainly say that this is not without reason".
Sizes and angles
Alphacool currently offers two classical sizes, one tube with a 16 mm outer diameter and another with 13 mm. As it is not possible to personally deform these tubes, a different length with 90° angles is introduced for each size. Alphacool says this lets you do without connecting angle pieces. The following options are available:
- 13/10mm HardTube bent 90°: 10/30cm and 20/40cm
- 13/10mm HardTube, straight: 40cm and 60cm
- 16/11mm HardTube bent 90°: 10/30cm and 20/40cm
- 16/11mm HardTube, straight: 40cm and 60cm
Cutting to length
WARNING: do not under any circumstances use the usual glass tube cutter to shorten the tube. Borosilicate is a solid, very hard glass that a normal cutter can not cut properly. Please refer to a Dremel® with the needed cutting disc, and Alphacool recommends a diamond disc for it.
What a run needs
A tube run takes two fittings, one at each end. All glass tubes of this range take the HardTube fittings in our 16mm OD hard tube fittings section. Note from Alphacool: due to the made-to-fit pipes, the connections must be plugged on straight with a little effort.
Notes
- Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
