A block built for the Xeon platform
Watercool calls this a high-end waterblock for Socket 3647 processors, the Intel Xeon chips and the high end desktop processors on that socket. Developed completely from scratch, it is explicitly tailored for the requirements of this high-performance platform and can be installed in 1U server racks.
The coldplate covers a Xeon's entire heatspreader and can absorb the full heatload. At 48x40mm, the cooling engine is extremely big. Watercool says the flow path is perfectly optimized for the Xeon architecture and provides superior cooling performance. Rounded flow channels with high volume reduce the flow restriction.
Five ports for any loop layout
The block provides five full-scale G1/4 ports, so you can integrate it into a multitude of different cooling loop layouts. For classic tower systems, the two ports in the top (25 mm apart) are used, which connect the block just as a standard CPU block. For a 1U server, one inlet and two outlets in the front-facing sides of the block (26 mm apart) offer extremely compact tubing options.
Thanks to its modular design, the top can be turned by 180° in the mounting bracket, to place the side inlet's position flexibly. The low flow restriction makes it, in Watercool's words, perfectly suited for multi-CPU systems. The inlet is in the center of the block; the manual has a sketch of every possible connection.
Mounting and manufacturing
The block mounts with original Intel mounting material, which in Watercool's words provides perfect mounting pressure. There is an alternative version for the Square ILM, sold separately.
For industrial customers, Watercool will also manufacture the block in other material combinations, which can eliminate a corrosion risk in proprietary systems. Its words: "Please contact [email protected] to discuss your project."
All HEATKILLER water blocks are truly "Made in Germany", and Watercool adds: "We manufacture on our own machining park at Watercool's headquarter."

Each port you connect takes one G1/4 fitting, so the top layout needs two. Our fittings category has them.

Notes
- Tighten the knurled nuts evenly and crosswise for optimal contact pressure.
- Watercool recommends demineralized or deionized water (distilled water) with a corrosion inhibitor additive, and names good experiences with Mayhems X1, Innovatek Protect and Aquacomputer Double Protect.
