A modular reservoir series
The HEATKILLER® Tube series is a modular collection of high-quality expansion tanks built around a glass tube made of borosilicate, and Watercool says it has many outstanding features, which are listed below. Being modular means each part can be exchanged separately: the base for a DDC pump can later be changed to a D5 pump compatible base, for example.
Borosilicate glass tube
For the construction of expansion tanks, Watercool considers borosilicate glass the best material currently available, and it chose to rely on it. It offers high chemical and thermal resistance, low thermal expansion and a scratch-resistant quality: in Watercool's words, ideal conditions for creating a high-quality expansion tank.
Different filling volumes and flow-optimized D5 and DDC versions
Watercool has manufactured the Heatkiller® Tube in different sizes, which offers the opportunity to be perfectly presented visually for all applications and keeps you flexible with the filling volume. The sizes 100, 150 and 200 cover everything from mini-ITX to huge big towers; this one is the 100. The same reservoir with a DDC mount also comes as the HEATKILLER Tube 150 DDC MP.
You can purchase the Heatkiller Tube in flow-optimized versions for the popular D5 and DDC pumps from Xylem (formerly Laing), and this is the DDC one. For it Watercool made a solid acetal cover, which you place directly on the pump. The pump then sucks the water directly from the expansion tank, and the flow-optimized design ensures higher flow rates and less noise.
Anti-cyclone effect
Especially with popular power pumps such as the D5 or DDC, the so-called cyclone effect can occur when the cooling medium is sucked in. The pump creates a kind of whirlpool and sucks in air. This not only results in less cooling performance but also in ambient noise. Watercool says its newly developed stainless steel inlay has effectively switched off the cyclone effect.
Elegant accessories, variable brackets and lighting
So that you can best integrate the Heatkiller® Tube into your high-end system, Watercool has worked on an extensive accessory package, which also includes different mounting options. Thanks to its flexible mounting systems for horizontal or vertical mounting, you have the option of mounting the tube standing, lying down or directly on fan locations.
- Standing: the Stand - Short or Stand - Long, screwed to the case floor through four holes, with the Decoupling Kit for Stand as an option.
- On a wall or flat surface: the Basic Mounting Kit, a multifunctional bracket mount that slides onto the struts.
- On a fan location: the bracket mount plus the 120mm Fan Adapter or 140mm Fan Adapter pair, fixed with two M4 screws.
The expansion tank can be visually further enhanced with differently anodized struts. Watercool has blue, red and natural in its selection, here the blue, red and raw aluminum 100mm struts. The color "natural" is, Watercool says, perfect for anodizing the struts themselves in the appropriate color. In keeping with the current hype surrounding products with RGB LEDs, the selection of accessories also holds addressable RGB LEDs; a strip is led through a small opening in the designated strut and fixed there. More is under reservoir lighting.
What the loop needs
Add a DDC pump, sold separately: remove the pump body with its four torx screws, since only the pump motor (rotor and stator) is used. Put the reservoir on its side, take out the four M4x35 DIN956 screws on the bottom and set the motor into the pump cover, with the cable through the small lateral notch. With the O-ring back in place, the cover and pump are screwed onto the reservoir. Each G1/4 port you use takes one of your fittings.
Made in Germany
Production is carried out with the greatest care on Watercool's ultra-modern CNC machine park in Waren-Müritz. Many work steps are done by hand, and each product is brought to perfection according to the four-eye principle: Made in Germany as you would imagine it, in Watercool's words.

Notes
- The lid opens with a quarter turn counterclockwise, so the large filling mouth needs no tools.
- Take care not to squeeze or otherwise damage the pump cable when installing or removing the pump.
- Check all seals before the first start-up; a reservoir with squeezed or damaged O-rings must not be used. Drain it and take it out of the loop before any alteration.
- The glass tube O-rings come in 4 mm and 5 mm to compensate for length tolerance; reuse the strength you found in your reservoir.
