Why Watercool chose EPDM
When Watercool went in search of an optimal hose for its HEATKILLER series, the focus was on high flexibility, no plasticizers and long-term durability. EPDM (EPD rubber) makes it possible to avoid plasticizers entirely. This means slagging, the build-up of gunk that leads to clogging of the cooling circuit, can be ruled out, which matters most in microstructure water blocks.
Bends and stability
The high elasticity of the material allows very narrow bending radii without kinking. Watercool also says it offers better dimensional stability than comparable plastic (PVC) hoses.
Built to last
In addition, the tubing can withstand the harshest conditions (UV, heat, ozone) for many years, and Watercool rates it as ideal for use in industrial environments and heavy-duty applications as well. Watercool's last points make it a simple tube to live with: it is easy to lay, durable and absolutely maintenance-free. In Watercool's words, the combination of robust properties and the matte black surface makes it a typical Watercool product.
What the loop needs
Pair it with 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD compression fittings, two per tube run, one at each end, straight or angled. More tube in the same size is under 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD soft tubing.
