Thermal Grizzly's TG GPU Guard in the NVIDIA GPU Set: nine foam gaskets that sit around the GPU dies of GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 4090 graphics cards when you run liquid metal. For any other die size, the universal 100 x 100 mm pad is cut to fit.

What it does
The gasket is a highly compressible foam frame for the GPU die. It covers the surface-mounted devices (SMDs) next to the GPU and protects those electronic components when using liquid metal, such as Conductonaut, or other electrically conductive thermal interface materials. The base material has a height of 0.8 mm, slightly taller than the GPU die itself, and can be compressed to 0.15 mm, easily compensating for height differences of the SMDs. The foam is gallium-resistant.
How it works
When mounting the cooler, the applied pressure fully compresses the foam. It can then bridge the height difference between the PCB and the cooler while ensuring that liquid metal (or other thermal compounds) cannot spread onto other components on the PCB. In addition, the gasket also works for the liquid metal itself, extending its durability: the foam prevents oxygen from reaching it, which further increases its lifespan.
Fit and notes
The NVIDIA variant includes three gaskets each for the GPU dies of the GeForce RTX 5090, GeForce RTX 5080 and GeForce RTX 4090. For easier application, they are supplied on a transfer film. A gasket can also be used on GPU dies with similar dimensions (see the image gallery for reference). However, there should always be 1-2 mm of clearance between the GPU and the gasket.
- Apply the gasket according to the instructions before applying liquid metal to the GPU and cooler.
- Each gasket is used once: it is not reusable.
- Not for use with CPUs!
