There haven't been any significant innovations to CPU waterblocks in years. Aquacomputer looks to change that with the introduction of their new cuplex kryos NEXT blocks with integrated VISION OLED screens. While not adding significantly to the overall size of the block, they have managed to integrate in a 128x64 pixel OLED display and micro-controller that can be used to monitor information such as CPU temperature, load, and much more via the free aquasuite software.
Aquacomputer is also offering something called VARIO technology in some of their new waterblocks which allows you, for the first time, to change the shape of the of the CPU base plate from convex to concave in real time with the the computer running. This will allow for optimal contact of the waterblock’s base plate to the IHS (integrated heat spreader) of AMD and Intel CPUs. Another cool feature is FMS (flush mounting system) which moves the tensioning springs to a recess in the mooting bracket. The result is a clean look with no obtrusive springs jutting high above the surface of the mounting bracket.
Of course Aquacomputer hasn't just added a bunch of bells and whistles and ignored performance. The cuplex kryos NEXT waterblocks have one of the highest density micro-fin architectures available allowing for maximum thermal transfer and a high flow rate. Aquacomputer has always had great attention to detail and it show with the use of their encapsulated silicone backplates to eliminate the nasty rubber smell that is synonymous many cheaper solutions. With many different material and feature options available Aquacomputer has managed to manufacture a truly versatile waterblock solution.
