With the "Ryzen 3000 and 5000" processor families based on the "Zen2"/"Zen3" architecture, AMD has introduced a chiplet design, for example. For example, the Ryzen 9 5900X consists of a 12 nm I/O die and two CPU dies, which are manufactured in a 7 nm process. However, this chiplet design has also changed the layout of the CPU dies on the package, which has also shifted the thermal center point.

With a processor with only one CPU die under the heatspreader, the "hot spot" is located in the middle of the CPU. However, the chiplet design shifts the "hot spot" to the edge of the processor.
Of course, this also has an influence on the cooling behavior of CPU coolers.
Especially all-in-one water coolers with a round cooling block often do not completely cover the corners of the heatspreader. For an optimal cooling performance, the base plate of the AiO water cooler would have to be moved.

In addition, other motherboards are compatible with the der8auer RYZEN 3000/5000 OC AIO mounting frame after a modification. This modification must be carried out by the user himself and it is recommended to carry out this modification only if you have the appropriate know-how and experience. So far, only X570 motherboards have been tested for compatibility. However, the der8auer RYZEN 3000/5000 OC AIO mounting frame will also be compatible with a variety of older AM4 motherboards in the ATX and E-ATX form factor. With Mini-ITX motherboards, components are often in the way that prevent the kit from being used.
