Quick Overview

The cuplex kryos NEXT marks a new milestone in CPU water block development. This version for socket 2011/2011-3/2066 has a top part of nickel plated brass, a base of 925/000 sterling silver and two G1/4 connection threads.

Details

The Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos NEXT 2011/2011-3/2066, Nickel/.925 Silver (21619) is a CPU water block for Intel socket 2011, 2011-3 and 2066, with a nickel plated brass top part on a .925 sterling silver base. Boards for these sockets carry a back plate in the CPU socket itself, so the block comes without one.

Part of the cuplex kryos NEXT series

In Aquacomputer's view, the cuplex kryos NEXT marks a new milestone in CPU water block development. Aquacomputer says every detail was analyzed, optimized and tested to achieve perfection in cooling performance, installation procedure and product features. The result, by its account, is not just a CPU water block with outstanding performance: it is a product series of various models differing in color and functionality.

This nickel/silver block is one of the plain models. The VARIO models, according to Aquacomputer, are the first CPU water blocks globally to incorporate a real-time adjustable base. It adds that never before had it been possible to adjust the geometry of a CPU block to perfectly fit the CPU while the PC is in operation. Models with a VISION module are equipped with modern electronics: a high resolution OLED display, an integrated water temperature sensor and a USB interface are just three of the features. For the same sockets we also stock an RGBpx model, the cuplex kryos NEXT RGBpx black 2011/2011-3/2066.

Base part with micro structure

An extremely fine micro structure is cut into the base part, and its structural width is lower than 200 µm. The coolant is injected centrally through a slot-shaped nozzle, after which it runs to both sides of the structure. Across the series the base itself is manufactured from copper, nickel plated copper or .925 sterling silver, depending on model. Here the material combination is nickel/.925 silver: top part nickel plated brass, base 925/000 sterling silver.

Retention system

The retention system consists of 2.5 mm thick stainless steel plates equipped with nickel plated spring cups. Springs and knurled screws secure the water block on the motherboard, which gives the retention system a very clean look when installed. All retention system versions feature a mechanical stop, for optimum clamping force and even force distribution. The knurled screws go in by hand, and a hexagon socket wrench can additionally be used for easy installation.

On socket 2011 and 2066 motherboards a back plate is already part of the CPU socket, therefore no additional back plate is required. A steel back plate with silicone insulation, to stabilize the CPU region of the motherboard, is something only the water blocks for socket 115x or AM3 include.

Thermal compound

Every cuplex kryos NEXT ships with what Aquacomputer calls outstanding thermal compound, for optimum performance. Included is a syringe with 0.5 grams of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, complete with a plastic spatula. Due to its low viscosity, this compound with a high thermal conductivity spreads out thin and evenly between CPU and water block. The amount in one syringe is sufficient for approximately five applications.

Installation

Take the old cooler off the CPU and, if necessary, clean thermal grease residues from its surface with benzine. Put a small drop of the supplied grease, ca. 4 mm (0.15 inch) in diameter, in the center of the CPU, or spread a thin layer with the plastic spatula. Set the block on the CPU in the orientation the manual shows and place one spring into each recess. Each knurled screw goes through its spring into the anchor threads of the CPU socket, at first only one or two revolutions. Then tighten the four screws alternately, a fraction of a revolution at a time, until all are fully fastened.

What the loop needs

The two connection threads are G1/4, so the block takes two fittings from our fittings section. Feed the coolant in through the central fitting for best cooling performance, because a reversed flow direction significantly decreases it. The block belongs in a water cooling system of sufficient performance, and for corrosion inhibition Aquacomputer requires Double Protect Ultra as coolant.

Color variants

Across the series, the top part of the water block is available in various materials and coatings:

  • Acetal black, a shiny black high-tech plastic
  • Acrylic glass, a transparent body suitable for illumination
  • Copper, with a reddish gloss
  • Nickel plated brass, with a bright metallic gloss (this block)
  • PVD plated brass, a high quality multi layer coating with a dark metallic gloss

Notes

  • Put the water cooling system into operation with no other PC components connected to the mains supply first, and check the block and the fittings for leakages.
  • Any component that has been in contact with coolant stays out of operation until it is completely dry again.

In the box

  • 1x Water block
  • 1x Mounting materials (screws, springs, etc.)
  • 1x Thermal compound Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, approx. 0.5 grams in syringe
  • 1x Plastic spatula
  • 1x Instruction manual

The manual shows the mounting steps for every cuplex kryos NEXT socket, the flow direction and the approved coolant.
