The Aquacomputer Airplex Modularity 420 mm Radiator with D5 pump | Copper (33045) is a 420 mm water cooling radiator for three fans side by side, with a D5 pump in an integrated pump module. It has copper fins, stainless steel side panels and G1/4 connection threads, and comes without mounting hardware.

A modular radiator series
The airplex modularity system is Aquacomputer's modular radiator series for PC water cooling. Aqua Computer has been manufacturing water cooling systems since 2001, and it says the series represents its competence and know-how. Its key features start with a modular system of exchangeable components, and Aquacomputer claims extremely high cooling performance for it. The system is extensible in all directions to unlimited size.
The side panels are exchangeable too, for individualization: brushed stainless steel, or anodized aluminum in black, blue and red color. This radiator carries the stainless steel panels. Comprehensive accessories are available for the series, among them reservoirs, pump modules, stands, filters and sensors.
How it is built
The base component of every airplex radiator is a tube/fin element consisting of 21 copper tubes, with aluminum or copper fins and a stainless steel flange. Here the fins are copper; Aquacomputer says many models are also available that way for higher cooling capacity. The terminals, made from Delrin, are mounted on both ends. Each one is equipped with o-ring seals and securely fastened by screws.
No welding is performed during production, so the radiator has no welding residues inside. It can be disassembled, for example for cleaning. The fins are free of coating for good heat transfer, and their spacing is optimized for low fan speeds and excellent passive cooling performance. Because the pipes are made of copper, the cooling liquid has no direct contact to aluminum. Aquacomputer credits high precision production for a perfect fit, and riveted threads take the fan installation screws.
Flow and connecting radiators
Flow resistance is optimized. Around each connection thread of a terminal sits a recess, 19 mm in diameter and 3.5 mm deep. Using a small adapter in it, the radiator can connect flatly to another radiator, without bulky tubing. The direction of water flow is predefined by design. Side by side, radiators will be connected consecutively; mounted on top of each other, they will be connected in parallel. The interconnection plates come as a side-by-side set (33503) and a horizontally stacked set (33504).
A radiator can be extended in length as well: connector modules, sold separately, join two tube/fin elements.
Sizes and the pump module
All radiator types have an equal width of 146 mm, so each fits perfectly into standard 5 1/4 inch drive bays. Without pump modules, the height is 63.5 mm. The length without pump modules is calculated by adding 44 mm to the specified fan dimensions; for example model 360: 360 mm + 44 mm = 404 mm. This 420 mm radiator comes with its D5 pump module, and with it the dimensions are 524 x 146 x 89 mm.
Radiator versions with an integrated pump module and reservoir reduce space consumption and save time and effort. Pump modules and reservoirs are available for the series. For special configurations, all radiator sizes are available with two separated coolant loops. For these radiators, approximately 70% of the fin surface is used for the primary loop and approximately 30% for the secondary one. The loops are sealed against each other, so there is no transfer of coolant between them.
What the loop needs
Mounting hardware is not in the box, so plan screws for the riveted threads; see our fan screws. The radiator takes three fans of the matching size. All threads are G1/4, and all fittings from the Aqua Computer web shop are compatible; each port in use takes one fitting from our fittings section. A connector with a larger outer diameter than the recess can only be installed with suitable extensions, which are not included in delivery.
