The Alphacool Eiszapfen HF Quick Release Connector Kit G3/8 Inner Thread with Reducing Nipple G1/4 - Black is a quick coupling for water cooling, one coupling set per pack. Both sides have a G3/8 internal thread, and a reducer to G1/4 is included, which Alphacool says makes it compatible with all common connections.

Where a quick coupling is used
A quick coupling goes everywhere in a watercooled system where expandability, flexibility and cleanness play an important role. These couplings are compact. To use the standard G1/4 thread on a G3/8 coupling you need an adapter from 3/8 to 1/4, and Alphacool's page says that reducer is part of this kit.
How it disconnects
The couplings can be disconnected by pulling down the outer ring. Both sides close immediately and completely tight, so that no water can escape. Alphacool credits its special N.D.S.L. Technology (NDSL: no drip, no splash, no leak). With that locking technology, it says, any drips or leaking are completely eliminated when the coupling is opened.
When assembling again, both sides must click into each other audibly. They shut themselves tightly thanks to a double O-ring, which is simply compressed when plugged together and so does not wear out. Likewise, the mechanism was designed for durability, to ensure a secure connection for years.
Flow rate
Many quick couplings usually also affect the flow rate. But Alphacool says it has found a way to resolve this issue, and that a high flow rate is maintained with these quick couplings.
The Eiszapfen name
Alphacool introduced these as its new quick couplers with the name "Eiszapfen", the next block in the "Eis" series. It says high quality and impressive features will make your system efficient, practical and top-notch. The quick couplers are available in two finishes: in Deep Black, which is this one, and Fully Chromed.
What the loop needs
The couplings have threads and hold no tube themselves. Each goes between threaded parts or fittings for your tube, which are not in the box.
Notes
- Alphacool asks for clear transparent water cooling fluids only: the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products.
