The mat
The Eisplateau is an insulating rubber mat with a fine, cleanly printed textile on top. Unlike the modification mats and designs of years past, it is made of a comfortable, high quality material that can withstand everything you can throw at it. It is easily cleaned with a wet cloth. At this impressive size the massive mat can also be used as a unique mouse pad, one "without limits" as Alphacool puts it. Components set down on the surface sit without the fear of scratches or dust marring up their appearance.
The mat has been sold as the newest "must have" for PC modders everywhere and as the perfect surface for the work. Its mottos: "Mod with Confidence! Mod with Integrity!" and "If you know your components and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred projects."
Diagrams on the surface
If you are sick of having to stop in the middle of a project to measure a component or check an online diagram, the answers are printed on the mat. It is adorned with detailed diagrams and models of many internal components for quick and easy reference. Alphacool puts it as all important measurements and data always at hand, and a clean workplace as the prerequisite for good results. The following can be found on it:
- Wiring diagrams for standard PSU cables
- Wiring diagrams for the vandal resistant Bulgin switch
- Size charts for popular tubing and compression fitting sizes
- Alphacool pump dimensions and detailed diagrams
- Fan size comparison charts
- Radiator size and hole charts
Grounding
The mat has two anti-static clips, one for each cable. Simply attach the cable with the easy snap alligator clip to the mat and to a grounded item such as a metal desk or PC tower. The second cable also connects to the work-mat, and its integrated wrist strap fits comfortably to your arm. By grounding oneself, you do not run the risk of damaging your expensive components with static discharge. If the surface is suitable, static charges are discharged directly without damaging the hardware standing on the mat. The matching strap and clip are the extra anti-static insurance behind the motto "We will not fear the static menace!"
