Details
The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 3090/3080 Ti HOF with Backplate is a GPU water block for the GALAX and KFA2 GeForce RTX 3080 Ti HOF graphics cards. Alphacool's list below also names a GALAX GeForce RTX 3090. It cools the card with a 5.5 mm nickel-plated copper block, and the black aluminum backplate is in the box.

The block was built for one PCB layout, so check your own card before ordering. Compare it with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator for graphics cards. You can also look it up here: the Compatibility List for Nvidia graphic cards is a PDF download. Alphacool also makes an active backplate that water-cools the back of the card on this block, the Eisblock Aurora GPX-N Acryl Active Backplate for the HOF cards.
The Aurora Acryl GPX Eisblock
Alphacool presents this graphic card GPU block as one that combines style with performance and extensive digital RGB lighting. It says over 17 years of experience give it the ability to create GPU blocks that represent high quality and fantastic performance, and that this perfectly describes the series. It calls the cooler a complete redevelopment of the previous Alphacool graphics card water coolers. In its words no technical compromises were made, but the entire technical know-how flowed into the development and implementation.
More performance
During the development Alphacool wanted to further increase the performance. The first step was to move the cooler closer to the individual components by reducing the thermal pads to a thickness of 1 mm. Next, it reduced the thickness of the copper block, which is now only 5.5 mm thick instead of 7 mm. The water flow inside the cooler has also been optimized. Alphacool says all important components, such as the voltage transformers and the memory, are now significantly better and more effectively cooled by the water. All this, it says, ensures a significant increase in cooling performance.
New design
The cooler has been designed so that lighting is more important than on the previous models. The addressable digital RGB LEDs are embedded directly into the cooling block and run along its entire length. The effect is an illumination of the whole block in which, Alphacool says, no corner or edge remains unlit by the aRGB LEDs. The shape is more angular, with all edges beveled, which promotes better light diffusion in the water cooler due to the reflections on these bevels. In addition, the bevels create various contours, which Alphacool says give the block its very own unique identity.
Copper or aluminum?
Of course, Alphacool only uses copper for its water coolers, and here the copper is nickel-plated. Why does it rely on copper instead of aluminum? Simply, Alphacool says, because copper has almost twice the thermal conductivity and is therefore clearly the better material for water cooling. Compared to its predecessor models, it has improved the nickel plating even further, which it says has considerably increased the acid resistance. This means that the nickel should resist flaking.
Is there anything else new?
The block also relies on the new patented stop fittings, which sit flush with the surface of the terminal. The Alphacool logo now sits in the corner on the top and is fully illuminated by the digital LEDs. So are the corresponding names of the compatible graphic card types, which you can see on the front of the terminal. IN and OUT are now marked by small triangles. Alphacool says they are easily recognizable and fit perfectly into the entire aesthetics of the graphic card water cooler.
What the loop needs
The block has four G1/4 threads. Two take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box, and the two you do not use have to stay closed. The lighting connects through a 3-Pin JST plug and runs on 5V.

Notes
- Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
