Details
The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 3090/3080 Suprim X Active Backplate is a water-cooled backplate for MSI GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3090 graphics cards. The Suprim X, Gaming X Trio and Gaming Z Trio models on the list below are the ones meant. It is an upgrade for Alphacool's Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 3090/3080 Suprim X GPU water block (article number 11938), and it becomes part of the loop. Nickel-plated copper covers the back of the card under an acrylic top. It cannot be used in combination with Alphacool Eiswolf 2 AIOs.

The backplate was designed for one PCB layout, and graphics card manufacturers occasionally revise a card so that a cooler no longer fits later models. Before ordering, compare your card and its PCB number with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator, or look it up in its Compatibility List for Nvidia cards.
Active cooling for the back of the card
The backplate, consisting of nickel-plated copper, lets the back of Geforce RTX 3080/3090 graphics cards now also be actively water-cooled, thus achieving what Alphacool calls a significant increase in cooling performance. Alphacool describes it as the perfect upgrade for its Eisblock Aurora Acrylic GPX-N GPU custom water coolers (see the compatibility details above).
Brilliant illumination
Six addressable digital RGB LEDs are directly recessed into the backplate and run along the sides of the entire cooling block. Alphacool says this illuminates the whole block and creates unique lighting effects.
What the loop needs
There are 2 different ways to incorporate the backplate into your existing watercooling loop, as two connection options. Variant 1 uses the top side, where the cooler has an inlet and an outlet with G1/4 internal thread respectively. With suitable connections and hoses or hard tubes, which means two compression fittings for your tube size that are not in the box, it is easily integrated into the water circuit.
Variant 2 uses the inlet and outlet on the side, which are suitable for 5/3 mm hoses. With the help of Alphacool's MCX 2x manifold with 5/3 mm tubing (item 1022250, Alphacool article number 13041), the active backplate joins the circuit in a space-saving way. It is a sensible choice if there is little space in the PC case and tubing runs will be difficult to do. Note that variant 2 only works with Eisblock Aurora Acryl and ES Acetal GPX-N GPU custom water coolers.
Alphacool calls the connection options very flexible for both variants, as inlet and outlet can be freely selected depending on the design. The pair of ports you do not use is closed with parts from the box. The two screw plugs go into the G1/4 threads with the enclosed tool, and the two MCX fitting plugs cap the 3 mm barbed fittings. The Digital aRGB LED lighting is connected via a JST 3-pin connector, whose female end plugs into the male connector of the graphics card block's LED. It can be controlled with a Digital RGB controller (e.g. the Alphacool Aurora Eiscontrol, Art.15360) or a Digital RGB capable motherboard, and more digital RGB LEDs can be chained to the remaining male connector.

Notes
- Alphacool asks that the backplate be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Place the thermal pads on the backplate as the manual shows, then fasten it with the 8 M2x11 screws.
