Details

The Alphacool Core Geforce RTX 5070 Reference with Backplate is a GPU water block for Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics cards built on the Reference board. The MSI VENTUS 2X OC and the Inno3D TWIN X2 are two of them. It cools the card with a chrome-plated copper block under an acrylic top, and the aluminum backplate is in the box. It is not compatible with the RTX 5070 Founders Edition (FE).

Compatibility

Alphacool lists these cards for this block:

  • Inno3D GeForce RTX™ 5070 TWIN X2 (N50702-12D7-195064N)
  • Inno3D GeForce RTX™ 5070 TWIN X2 OC (N50702-12D7X-195064N)
  • Inno3D GeForce RTX™ 5070 TWIN X2 OC WHITE (N50702-12D7X-195064W)
  • Inno3D GeForce RTX™ 5070 X3 OC (N50703-12D7X-195064L)
  • MSI GeForce RTX™ 5070 12G INSPIRE 3X OC (G5070-12I3C)
  • MSI GeForce RTX™ 5070 12G SHADOW 2X OC (G5070-V532 V1.1)
  • MSI GeForce RTX™ 5070 12G VENTUS 2X OC (G5070-12V2C)

The block was built for one PCB layout, and card makers sometimes revise a board so that a cooler no longer fits later models. Before ordering, compare your card and its PCB number with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU configurator, or look it up in its Compatibility List for Nvidia cards. Please contact us if you want us to verify compatibility with your GPU.

Copper block and terminal

At the center of the cooler, its heart, is a copper block precisely milled from a single piece. It is complemented by a precisely manufactured brass connection terminal with a nylon cover. The copper cooler is chrome plated, and that plating makes it more resistant. Alphacool says the finish enhances durability and provides a smoother, brighter and more radiant surface than conventional, traditional nickel plating. The series continues to rely on high-quality brass connections, which Alphacool says guarantee optimal quality and safety.

Design and lighting

Alphacool presents this block as one of its new graphics card water coolers for the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX generation, part of the Core product series. The visual design of the cooler has only been changed slightly. The special highlight is a newly added Core emblem placed above the jet plate, which underlines the fact that the block belongs to the series and visually enhances the design. The backplate is specially adapted to the board and covers the entire back of the copper cooler. That ensures a clear and uniform look. In combination with the aRGB lighting, the acrylic enables even and impressive illumination of the entire cooler.

Flow and testing

Technically, Alphacool says, the cooler has been completely redesigned. The distances between the cooler and the components of the PCB were redefined and tested to optimize cooling performance. Alphacool simulated the water flow using the most advanced software and verified the result in practical tests. Those extensive tests made it possible to improve the cooler base and the jetplate, the block's nozzle. Alphacool's claim for the series is that these coolers combine the highest quality with exceptional performance. It also says that, thanks to an optimized technical design, they offer outstanding cooling performance, in order to ensure the best possible cooling for this generation.

What the loop needs

The block has four G1/4 threads. Two of these connections take compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box. The other two take the two plugs that are. The lighting runs at a voltage of 5V and connects through a 3-Pin JST plug, and an ARGB adapter is included. The maximum working temperature of the block is 60 °C. Thermal pads, thermal grease, a putty tool, a plug tool, a screwdriver and the PCI bracket complete the box.

Notes

  • Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products, from the radiator to pumps, coolers and hoses. This can also void the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Remove the original cooler on an antistatic mat and clean the card of thermal paste and pad residues before fitting the block.
  • During assembly, make sure taller parts on the card have enough space around them.
