Details
The Alphacool Core Geforce RTX 4080 Reference Design with Backplate is a GPU water block for Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER graphics cards built on the Reference Design board. The Inno3D iCHILL X3 and X3 OC are among them. It cools the card with a chrome-plated copper block under an acrylic top, and the black aluminum backplate is in the box. Of the Inno3D GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER X3, Alphacool lists only the OC variant.

Alphacool's note to this list: the Inno3D GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER X3 is only compatible as the OC variant.
The block was designed for one PCB layout, and card makers sometimes revise a board so that a cooler no longer fits later models. Before ordering, compare your card and its PCB number with the pictures in Alphacool's GPU Configurator, or look it up in its Compatibility List for Nvidia cards. Alphacool's Eisblock Aurora block for the same board is the Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-N RTX 4080 Reference Design.
Copper cooler and terminal
The core of this block is the copper cooler, which is milled together with the end terminal from a single piece of copper. A hard and durable chrome plating covers the entire copper cooler. Alphacool says the fine workmanship in combination with that plating meets the highest quality standards. The G1/4 brass threads are integrated on both sides and left in chrome, so they stand out visually from the terminal. Alphacool names them one of the key points of the new design language, which is evident in all products in the Core series.
Backplate and lighting
The aluminum backplate is adapted to the design and forms a unit together with the terminal. Alphacool says it convinces with a clear and homogeneous look on the back of the cooler. The lighting consists of digitally addressable RGB LEDs, 11 of them, which illuminate the entire cooler evenly and well. Alphacool's own line for the product series is that Core is characterized by high quality, outstanding performance and a consistent, functional design language.
Jet plate and thermal pads
The technical development is reflected in the water supply to the jet plate and in the optimization of the jet plate itself. Alphacool completely redesigned that plate on the basis of many simulations and practical tests, in cooperation with board partners. The fin thickness and spacing have been changed, so the fin thickness and the fin distance are now both 0.4 mm. Alphacool also increased the cooling surface and optimized the water flow to the core components with the greatest heat dissipation. The included thermal pads are special soft pads with up to 7 W/mK, which Alphacool says adapt perfectly to even the smallest tolerances.
What the loop needs
The block has four G1/4 threads. Two take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box, and the other two take the two plugs that are. The lighting connects through a 3-Pin JST plug, and an ARGB adapter is included. Thermal pads, thermal grease, a putty tool, a screwdriver and the PCI bracket also come with the block.

Notes
- Please note: Alphacool asks you to use the block only in conjunction with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. This can result in voiding the manufacturer's warranty as well.
- Remove the original cooler on an antistatic mat and clean the card of thermal paste and pad residues before you place the pads and fit the block.
