Quick Overview

  • CPU mounting frame from OC-Champ "der8auer"

  • for more overclocking of beheaded 9th Gen Intel CPUs on Socket 1151 motherboards

  • Only compatible with Intel CPUs of the 9th generation!

Details

The der8auer 9th Gen. OC-Frame replaces the complete Intel ILM (Integrated Loading Mechanism) on the motherboard and thus opens up completely new possibilities for extreme overclockers in the professional overclocking of their CPUs, in which a processor cooler can be installed directly on the chip of the CPU without annoying IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader).

The der8auer 9th Gen. OC frame at a glance:

  • Practical tool for CPU use without heatspreader
  • Safe assembly to maximize cooling performance
  • Made of high-quality aluminum in anodized black
  • Only compatible with Intel CPUs of the 9000 series and socket LGA-1151-v2

German Engineered Perfection - Developed by overclocking world champion der8auer

Roman "der8auer" Hartung (pronounced: "the farmer") is a graduated mechatronics engineer (B.Eng.), hardware enthusiast and professional overclocker from Germany. He has been active in the extreme overclocking scene for many years and has already set countless groundbreaking world records during this time. He is always interested in teasing even the last drop of performance out of any high-end hardware.

Overclocking to the limit

Since 2004, Intel has been using so-called LGA sockets (Land Grid Array) as a connection system to attach its processors to the respective motherboards. The latter house the connector pins previously mounted on the underside of the CPU and can only be found as flat contact surfaces on Intel CPUs since then. So that an Intel processor can still be securely fixed in the socket, it is usually clamped by a folding frame via the integrated heatspreader (IHS). This nickel-plated copper heatspreader forwards the chip's waste heat to the CPU cooler. However, this is not particularly efficient and is overwhelmed with the heat removal with strong overclocking.
So that such a CPU can be sufficiently cooled even with pronounced overclocking, enthusiasts quickly separate the heatspreader with the der8auer Delid-Die-Mate 2 (FSD8-019), whereby the CPU temperature can be lowered by several valuable degrees.
However, this dangerous crafting act has the consequence that the sensitive silicon die or other now exposed components of the beheaded CPU can be easily damaged during cooler mounting. The der8auer 9th Gen. OC-Frame provides a remedy here and makes it possible to mount the CPU cooler directly and securely on the chip itself.
The outer edge of the der8au OC frame is only about 0.1 mm below the silicon chip itself, which effectively protects the latter from tilting the CPU cooler and thus from
damage. The black anodized layer also insulates the aluminum of the OC frame, which means that it is no longer electrically conductive. The 9th-gen OC frame can thus rest safely on the upper contacts of the CPU. For mounting, the socket holder (retention module) of the Intel socket must be removed and the OC frame is screwed to the standard backplate of the motherboard with the original screws.

Warning: The removal of the CPU heatspreader and the motherboard socket holder (Retention Module) is at your own risk and is always accompanied by the complete loss of the manufacturer's warranty and warranty!Compatibility note 1: Without the integrated heatspreader, the mounting height of the CPU cooler is slightly reduced, which is why those with an unchangeable mounting height can no longer be mounted.
Therefore, before mounting, be sure to check whether the cooler to be used can also be used at a lower mounting height.
Compatibility Note 2: This der8au OC frame is only compatible with motherboards that adhere to the Keep Out Zone around the CPU socket according to Intel's specifications and where no SMD devices or capacitors have been placed in this
area. When using the OC frame on non-(fully) specification-compliant motherboards, damage to the board can therefore occur. Technical details:
